A recently published study found that 40 percent of North American patients at orthopedic trauma clinics have experienced domestic violence. However, this University of Missouri survey found that 74 percent of orthopedic surgeons estimated that only 5 percent or less of their patients were victims of domestic abuse. <<read more>>
Announces 2,000th Opiate Overdose Reversal
The Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution Program, started in 2007, uses a nasal spray form of the drug Naloxone (commonly known as Narcan) to block the effects of opioids like heroin or methadone. The training and naloxone spray kits are available in 15 MA cities that have high overdose rates, including Brockton (read more). Our own SPHERE program trains staff in drug/alcohol treatment programs, jails, and homeless shelters to be naloxone responders.
